Willis the Owl v2.0

thought of updating my old post via editing, but the outlining and coloring (without shading) were such milestones for me, the character turn deserves a new post :) If I ever get to adding lighting to it, I'll edit the post.

Cartoon Museum Sketches

another trip to the Cartoon Art Museum over at SF, to work out my left biceps holding my notebook for hours. At some point, a group of 30-40 youngsters/students poured into the museum. All. At. Once. o_O;

Check out my copying skills (sarcasm). From left to right...

Moonshine Holler, another piece from The Thrilling Adventure Hour collection;
Cactoid Jim, Emilia Earheart: Fearlss Flyer, Captain Laserbeam

Colonel Tick-Tock, Sparks Nevada (should have longer legs..);
and, before the 1970s cartoons: Sir Gaby, Mutt & Jeff, Big George, Dennis the Menace

Li'l Delirium and Barnabas, Sandman;
The Endless and Death

an entire frame from City People Notebook: On-Timemanship,
by Will Einser, the "father of the graphic novel".

among other ones, I like the style of Sparks Nevada and Death, so sexy lookin'.

Turkey-Like

Summer is a good time to take a leap forward and advance the arts. This be the first, and hopefully many more to come. Looking forward to having a firmer foot planted on the digital side of art.

12 caricatures of classmates

It's been a while since I posted anything!! o___o So, I present to you.. eight of twelve caricatures of my classmates that I finally got myself to doing. What a drag, but it turned out to be quite fun to stalk on people and pretending to be invisible. Have to be loose and quick, I like. Loose doesn't mean sloppy though, esp for the final ink outlines. Four more drawings coming up..

EDIT: plus four more.. sorry peeps, really fast ones.

12 Famous People

Caricatures, my weakness. This assignment was good practice, though. I think. Lots of hybrids between realistic and caricature, at various degrees. Then for the last two, I did minimalistic cartoon caricatures with simple lines. Either way, see if you can recognize some of these faces.

Yay for large scanner!

Respectively: Robin William, Albert Einstein, Robert Downey, Jim Carrey, George Washington, Elvis Presley, Barack Obama, Bruce Lee, King Arthur, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Jones, Stan Lee

1000 Heads, Updated

"sigh. I tried to organize these, even via html.. but in the end, I figured it's just not worth the trouble. So, anyways.. here are my hundred heads. As expected, the first few ten heads are the most time consuming, and then the rest.. you just want to get through them with whatever method, as long as it's fast (and furious). Naturally I started drawing the heads realistically, as is; then I attempted a cartooney style and then caricature.. but they were all just hybrids.

EDIT: Updated.
